Album Overview

Tenacity is brimming with antitheses in subject, composition, and design.  With lyrics that juxtapose seemingly disparate yet interdependent themes, genre blending songwriting, and artwork contrasting the beauty of ancient ruin, Tenacity delivers a heterogeneous thought-provoking listening experience.

Tenacity is a selection of nine songs chosen for their similar themes regarding the juxtaposition of disparate yet interdependent themes such as timidity and tenacity.  The album's overarching theme emphasizes the curious congruence of beauty that emerges from destruction and positive outcomes derived from difficult situations. Tenacity subtly blends elements of roots rock, swing, mambo, doo wop, celtic, blues and jazz woven into Haeffel's unique style creating a heterogenous album under a similar lyrical theme.

Haeffel designed the artwork for Tenacity, seen here in the background and on each song page throughout Tenacity's deep dive, to compliment the albums overarching theme.  The photos are of ancient Roman ruins chosen for their beauty and tragic past. The wings on the album's cover and logo are the remains of an ancient statue of Victoria that, as ruins of a symbol of victory, fittingly encapsulate the album's theme.

Tenacity is self-written and produced by Mathew Haeffel and was recorded at Rhythm 80, his self-designed and built studio. Haeffel recorded all rhythm & lead guitar, bass guitar, and vocals for each song.  All keys, percussion, and drums were recorded by Dan Budziszewski with one exception for which Marshall McGhee recorded drums.
